Rosemary Burton was born in Cardiff in 1939. She studied Fine Art at the Polytechnic of Wales between 1974 and 1978 and went on to have a very successful career in teaching. More recently she has become established as one of Wales' leading artists working with collage, and her hugely popular work is in numerous private collections throughout Britain and abroad.
"Over the years I have drawn, painted and made collages depicting flowers, and they have become an important part of my work. They are also a part of my earliest childhood memories, one of which is of the family walks with my father pointing out the beauty, shapes and names of wild flowers. He also kept a lovely garden with a great variety of changing plants. I still enjoy looking at and having flowers around me, and with this background it is not surprising that they appear regularly in my work".
