Harry Holland RCA b.1941
Harry Holland was born in Glasgow in 1941 and trained at St. Martin’s School of Art, London. He has been living and working in Cardiff since 1973.
Now established as one of Britain's leading figurative artists, he has exhibited with great critical and commercial success in Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Brussels, Hamburg, Cologne, Stockholm, Athens and Vienna, becoming one of Wales’ most internationally renowned and successful artists.
He has ignored prevailing trends and fashions, while continuing to develop his own themes and style. His intellectual and painterly approach is deeply rooted in the traditions of art, often including mythological references in both his figurative and still life works. Beautifully painted, his serene, ambiguous and intriguing paintings repay long contemplation.
