Wilf Roberts (1941 - 2016)
Born in 1941, Wilf Roberts was raised in the Mynydd Bodafon area of Anglesey. In 1962 he moved to Croydon where he taught art and studied part time at Croydon Art College .
In 1974 he returned to Anglesey to work in Local Government and Education and, although not exhibiting for many years, he continued to paint, donating work, illustrating and designing posters for national charities, until retiring in 1996 to devote his time to painting.
His interest in painting and drawing was always an integral part of his life. One can sense the affinity he had with his surroundings in his paintings; the tranquillity and sheer simplicity of stark stone cottages and peaceful olive groves, or the rugged cliffs and turbulent seas.
His work is held in public and private collections in The Hague, Paris, New York, Australia and the UK. Wilf died at his Anglesey home in September 2016.
